From green and black blocks of liquid crystals , cell phone displays traveled a long path forward, and trying to reach new heights. Super AMOLED,Retina Display,Gorilla Glasses...the list is going on. Which is the best display among that? It is a difficult question to answer .Each one has its own pros and cons.

Super AMOLED or  Super Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode used in PDAs has a major feature. This display has no separate layer to  detects touch. That is touch sensitive layer is integrated to screen. This display is used in Samsung smart phones such as Galaxy S series,Wave, Omnia etc. Super AMOLED display is characterized bye brighter screen,less power consumption and less sunlight reflection.

When we come to Apple iPhone4, you may wonder how much display is improved from iPhone3. iPhone4 make use of display technology namely Retina display.It is characterized by high pixel density, so it is almost impossible to distinguish individual pixels!! In these technology curved edges are more and more smooth compared predecessors. It  also have some catchy characteristics like improved contrast ratio,In Plane Switching (IPS) technology which improve viewing angle and chemically treated glass over the screen which improve the quality of image.

 Another innovation is Gorilla glasses. Actually it is a protection for screen, this glasses are unscratchable and unshatterable. It is already present in wide variety of products from PDA to laptops.We can find it on the devices such as Dell Streak,LG Optimus7 and upcoming Sony Bravia TVs.

This is the present scenario.What about future? Definitely there will be a long list!! Out of which quantum dot display sounds promising. These displays are formed by semiconductor nano crystals and somewhat similar to OLED displays but it has a lot of exciting features.Improved color range, clarity, low power consumption..etc.We can expect iPhone5 or Android4 running on quantum dot display !!!

As tech going green , you may wonder how can be a cell phone become green !! Many manufactures are planing to release their green phones soon. What about having a disposable phone or phone made of wood? Can you imagine mobile phone made of paper?? It is the future of cell phones.

 As number of consumers increases, mobile phones made of plastics and other materials which are not eco-friendly become a threat to nature. That is why the green phone concept becomes more and more important.
Even paper can used to make a phone. Origami phone is a concept phone made of paper,  which can be disposed without threatening environment. 

Another innovation in this field is OLED cell phones. In which the entire phone is filmed in to a cylinder. Main advantage of OLED screen is that which will massively reduce the energy consumption, which can be useful reaching eco-friendliness objective.

You must be familiar about photosynthesis. Green Bracelet cell phone works on this concept. You can wear the phone like a bracelet. That is phone is always exposed to sun light. Phone has solar cells which  charge it.Sounds great ,right? But main draw back is that this phone has only basic features like calling and messaging.

Apart from concept phones it is good to see that a lot of manufactures already came with green phones. Best example is Samsung Reclaim. Reclaim is made of bio degradable plastic made from corn.

Manufactures like Sony Ericsson already going through a program called Green Heart,which will help to bring out eco-friendly phones.The challenge involved here is to build green phones without compromising the quality and fun. Let us hope soon such a future will come.

Advanced Micro Devices has announced their new family of Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), namely Fusion.In conjunction with advanced x86 processor cores this will deliver freedom to develop innovative applications that require enhanced hardware support. Advanced Processing Unit combines CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) in a single chip.These APUs are built to enhance multimedia applications,superior visual graphics experience and most importantly at a low cost. It will support windows 7 x86 along with DirextX 11.AMD claims that Fusion Series will bring affordable machines having these capabilities in to the market.They list many features Fusion offers including multi-monitor 3D gaming experience, stereoscopic 3D realism to 2D images and many other advanced features.A single processor support advanced gaming, HD video streaming and all other processing needs means it will be cheap and consume only less power, which are the basic requirements of mobile computing. So we can say that this innovation will change the future of mobile computing.

 After the acquisition of display giant ATI technologies in 2006 , AMD gives too much concentration on GPUs.As Intel is coming out with its 3D transistor technology the competitions between two firms reaches new heights. For existence in the Market what AMD needs a breakthrough. They hope that Fusion will bring better future.We too.

At the D9 conference last week Microsoft's executives confirmed that next generation of Windows code named "Windows 8" will run on System on Chip architecture. SoC architecture means integrating all the components in to a single electronic chip .Thats is it run just like embeded microcontrollers .But apart from micro controllers, which is very primitive when compared to a personal computer, SoC has enough requirements for running Windows and Linux.
